The Patient Encounter

The patient encounter serves as the central structure for managing all aspects of a patient interaction within the platform. It provides a framework to capture the details of each visit, including the patient's Chief Complaint, clinical notes, assessments, diagnoses, procedures, and follow-up plans. By organizing information within encounters, you can track the complete story of a patient’s care over time, ensure accurate documentation, and support continuity across multiple visits.

Starting a Patient Encounter

To get started, prior to a patient's appointment you will want to click button in order to begin an encounter. Once started, the platform will record all activities of the encounter.

  1. Select "Encounter Type" from the drop-down menu.

(Note: Thie requires that you have configured appointment types for your practice.)

  2. Edit the "Start Time" of the encounter, if necessary.

  3. Enter the patient's "Chief Complaint" in the box provided. If configured, snippets can be accessed from this text box.

Reviewing the Encounter Summary

If you have an active encounter being recorded, you can review the summary of the encounter at any time by clicking the "Encounter Summary" button near the top of your screen.
